Public Meeting - we need your input!

Our most recent public meeting was held  at the American Legion on Jackson Street onOctober 26 ,2011.  For a review of what we discussed, please watch the power point presentation below.

Jackson Street Corridor Improvement Project

Picture
Recognizing that Jackson Street is in need of improvements and that also serves Danville High School, Northridge Middle School, and Edison Elementary School; the City began working with the community in 2007 to find out what Danville wants for Jackson Street.

Here are some highlights of what we heard:
  • Provide bicycle and walking accommodations.  Northridge has the highest student walker numbers of any school in the community.  Jackson serves  neighborhood families that walk and ride for recreation.
  • Accommodate the schools and make it safer for buses, parents, and children to access the schools.
  • Make it green by removing the wall to wall concrete and add some landscaping that will also help clean our environment.
  • Slow people down.  Motorists on Jackson drive to fast.  Install traffic calming measures to slow thru traffic down.
  • Reconstruct the English and Voorhees intersections with Jackson and re-align the offset legs.  See our intersection simulations!
