The City picks up household garbage weekly and hauls to the local landfill.  Residents pay for this service with their monthly solid waste fee.  To insure the citizens are receiving the best value, the City created a Solid Waste Enterprise Fund that holds the monies collected and limits their use to Solid Waste operations.  Please see below for common issues and resolutions.

Yardwaste information

To order a toter, call the City of Danville Finance Department at 217.431-2200 or visit City Hall at 17 W Main.  After payment, we will deliver the toter to your house.  A large toter is $55 and the smaller toter is $37.  

Each residential property that has City of Danville solid waste service can have  two "Cleanup" collections each calendar year.  The year starts each January, pick ups do not roll over from one year to the next.  They must be scheduled at least 1 working day in advance.  To schedule call 217-431-2288 or email the gatekeeper.

Before contacting us:

•  If there was a City holiday this week, your pick up will be delayed by one day.  See the City holidays in the download file or on the Danville Solid Waste Calendar.  
• If your garbage was not in a toter in trash bags with the lid closed, then a Cleanup collection probably should have been scheduled, see above
• We start early, if you did not get your toter out in time we would have missed you.  If you can wait one week, please do so.
• If we missed your toter, we are sorry.  Call 217-431-2288 or email the Solid Waste Department so we can correct the mistake.
